IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR DRINKING WATER

Bacteria Monitoring & Reporting Requirements Not Met

The Littleton (NH)water system recently violated drinking water monitoring requirements.

Although this is not an emergency, as our customers, you have a right to know what happened and what we are doing to correct the situation.

We are required to monitor your drinking water for specific contaminants on a regular basis. Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whether or not your drinking water meets health standards. During the month(s) and year of SEPTEMBER 2011 we did not monitor or complete all monitoring or testing for bacteria and therefore cannot be sure of the quality of your drinking water during that time.

What should I do?

There is nothing you need to do at this time. Your water is SAFE to drink. This is considered a minor reporting violation.

The table below lists the month we were supposed to test for bacteria, how many samples we were supposed to take, how many samples were actually taken, and the date on which make up samples were (or will be) taken. We were required to collect 7 total samples, however only 6 samples were taken. All samples will be collected by October 26, 2011. This was in violation of the Total Coliform sampling rule.

Steps we are taking to prevent future incidents from happening:

Incorporate redundant checks and balances into field sampling and administrative procedures

We anticipate resolving the problem within (Incident is resolved). For more information, please contact the Littleton Water & Light Office at 65 Lafayette Avenue, Littleton, NH 03561 or call 603-444-2915 or send an email to littletonwaterandlight@roadrunner.com

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.
